Academy Awards

___The Academy Awards are considered the main award for the US. The winners and nominees are voted by the members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The award is in the form of a gold statuette we all loving call the Oscar.

Mel has been nominated three times and won two of those three times.
    1964 - Mel Won the Academy Award for Best Short Subject, Cartoons for The Critic(1963). He shared this award with Ernest Pintoff

    1969 - Mel Won the Academy Award for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay - Written Directly for the Screen for The Producers(1968)

    1975 - Mel was nominated for two Academy Awards in this year
    - Best Writing, Screenplay Adapted From Other Material
    for Young Frankenstein(1974). Shared with Gene Wilder.
    - Best Music, Song for the title song in Blazing Saddles
    (1974). John Morris shared this nomination with Mel, his for the
    Music side of it.
