Emmy Awards

___The Emmy Awards are given in the category of television. The awards are voted by the members of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The award is in the form of a statuette.

Mel has been nominated four times for the Emmy Award, he has won three of
those four times.
    1956 - Mel was nominated for the Emmy for Best Comedy Writing for Caesar's Hour(1954) along with Mel Tolkin, Selma Diamond, Larry Gelbert, and Sheldon Keller.
    After the presenter anounced the winner for this award, and when Mel heard he didn't win, he promptly jumped onto the table he was sitting at, and in front of all the TV cameras and everyone proclaimed, "Coleman Jacoby and Arnie Rosten won an Emmy and Mel Brooks didn't? Nietzsche was right! There is no God! There is no God!" This was the insperation for a similar (if toned down) event ocuring on a certain episode of the Mary Tyler Moore.

    1997 - Mel Won the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of Uncle Phil in the episode The Penis of Mad About You

    1998 - Mel Won the Emmy for Outstanding Geust Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of Uncle Phil in the episode Uncle Phil and the Coupons of Mad About You

    1999 - Mel Won the Emmy for Outstanding Geust Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of Uncle Phil in the episode Uncle Phil Goes Back to High School of Mad About You
